Property and liability insurance to increase for Copley Township

By Bruce F. Griffin correspondent

COPLEY TWP.: Township property and liability insurance will increase 4.77 percent, to $85,000 over the next year.

Fiscal Officer Janice Marshall attributed the increase Wednesday to the purchase of a new pumper truck for the Copley Fire Department and a number of vehicle repairs over the past year.

The township buys property insurance from Selective Insurance and liability from Travelers Casualty & Surety. The one-year contracts with both companies run from Oct. 14, 2013 to Oct, 13, 2014.

Service Director Mark Mitchell estimated the township's Oct. 5 tire and oil collection netted approximately eight tons of tires, 335 gallons of automotive oil, 35 gallons of antifreeze, three gallons of vegetable oil, auto and discarded rechargeable batteries.

The electronic waste collection the same day totaled 5,326 pounds, which, Mitchelll said, netted the township $202.55.
